Houthis Release Video Claiming Strike on Saudi Typhoon Jet, Say It Took Off From Taif Base

Yemen's Houthi movement has published video footage that it says shows a strike on a Saudi Typhoon fighter jet, according to 凤凰网. The group said the aircraft had taken off from the Taif base.

The claim comes amid a broader account from the Houthis of intensified operations. The group said Saudi warplanes, including F-15s and Typhoons, flew from the Khamis Mushait and Taif bases over the past day and carried out 65 airstrikes and missile attacks on civilian sites in the capital Sanaa and in the provinces of Lahij, Hodeidah, Taiz and Amran.

Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree repeated a warning on the 15th that Saudi airspace and airports are not safe, with the exception of Mecca and Medina. He described the group's military actions as defensive and said they would continue until Saudi Arabia halts its attacks and blockade on areas under Houthi control.

Separately, Yemeni government officials said on the 15th that the Houthis fired six ballistic missiles at Maasheq Palace in Aden, the country's temporary capital. A military command center at the palace, run by Saudi officers, and an associated weapons depot were also hit, the officials said, as reported by 凤凰网.

The reporting also points to a wider pattern of attacks, with other outlets describing Houthi strikes on Saudi Aramco facilities and threats of further action.

What to watch next: whether Saudi Arabia confirms or denies the fighter jet claim, and whether the strikes on Aden draw a military response.
